1. Supporters of HERO
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past couple of weeks, you have certainly heard about the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance, an ordinance making its way through the Houston City Council which would protect all Houstonians against discrimination in housing, public accommodation and employment.
There has been some HARSH criticism from the haters, but what we flocking love are all of the people who have spent HOURS at City Hall standing in support of this necessary ordinance. These folks (like our own Lauren Tennet who spent 12 hours at City Hall one day) are dedicated and passionate about equality. And we LOVE em’!
2. Four Shows Opening at Box13
Four, COUNT THEM, four new art shows are opening this Saturday night at Box13 ArtSpace. They’ve got Sara Schultz curating No Fart No Bliss, Mark Ponder curating Church of Man Love, Colleen Ludwig with Factor.field and Diana Baumbauch’s final product of “integrating meditative processes into daily life.” SO. MUCH. ART.
3. This ULTIMATE selfie
This selfie is the best selfie — sorry Ellen! Alex Chacón spent 600 days traveling to 36 countries and trekking over 125,946 miles across the globe to take this ultimate selfie. The wanderlust is so strong we can’t even watch it again.
4. Xscape
We flocking LOVED MJ’s new album so much we dedicated our entire #TuesdaysTunes this week to him. With just as many kick-ass beats and catchy lyrics as his earlier songs, the late pop star is still rocking strong. Hee-hee!
5. 10th Annual Empty Bowls Houston
Empty Bowls, an initiative by Whole Foods, the Houston Food Bank and Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, is turning 10 years old! For a minimum donation of $25, event goers can buy a beautiful hand-crafted ceramic bowl donated by Houston artisans. The money then goes to the Houston Food Bank. Supporting local artists + giving back to a cause! We can’t even express how much we flocking LOVE this.
And that’s what we flocking love! What did we miss? Let us know in the comments below.
