We Flocking Love This! is a series where we share our favorite things of the week—websites, videos, viral trends, Houston happenings or people we meet. If we LOVE it, you’ll hear about it. FLOCK yeah!
1. World Cup Commercials
The World Cup has finally come again, and as self-proclaimed marketing and branding nerds we (of course) are pumped for the commercials! Time has put together a nice list of the best commercials so far, but we really don’t know how they are going to get any better. Pro-tip: Check out the Beats By Dre commercial — EPIC.
2. Homeless Fonts
An initiative by the Arels Foundation, Homeless Fonts uses the handwriting of homeless people to create a collection of typefaces. The foundation then reaches out to corporations and encourages them to use the fonts in advertising and corporate announcements. All of the proceeds go back to the foundation.
3. Hands on a Hardbody
Based on the 1997 documentary with the same name, “Hands on a Hardbody” chronicles a competition between 10 Texans fighting it out to see who can keep their hand on a brand new truck the longest. The musical is playing at TUTS Underground through next weekend, so grab your tickets now!
4. Pop Shop’s “Mister Man II”
Just in time for Father’s Day, Pop Shop Houston and Height of Vintage are bringing all things manly to The Odd Fellows Building in The Heights TODAY for Mister Man II. This “celebration of man” will feature mini-golf, a mustaches contest and a (ooh-la-la) burlesque show! You can also shop for that special gift for dad.
5. Hidden Cash
On Saturday, you should REALLY keep your eyes peeled! Hidden Cash, a Twitter account that hides real money around cities, will be rolling in to Houston and you could walk away with some serious cash. The Houston Chronicle reports that $1,000 to $1,500 in envelopes will be hidden around the city. Saturday plans BOOKED.
And that’s what we flocking love! What did we miss? Let us know in the comments below.
